The Fab Four!

The month of October is upon us, Summer is over and the dark nights are drawing in fast. I have teamed up with Peacocks in the Rutherglen Exchange shopping centre to look at this seasons must-haves, and I can assure you, you will be looking as hot as the summer sunshine in these stylish Autumn/Winter looks.

My first pick of the season is this fabulous bohemian look from Peacocks' 'Boho Romantics' collection. The colours of this outfit just scream out autumn glamour. If you are seeking a  smart/casual style for the weekend this may be your go-to look. These dark red jeggings can be paired with ankle boots or heels depending on the occasion. I have matched this garment with a beautiful blue print blouse and a faux fur gilet. To accessorise, I have paired this outfit with a patchwork tote bag.  This bag is a great size and has a secure zip fastening and, as if it wasn't fabulous enough, it also comes with a matching purse. This could be also be a perfect christmas gift this year for a loved one, coming in at £22.00.

My second garment of choice is probably my favourite of the season so far: the show-stopping  jumper dress. The turtle neck sweater has been a winter favourite in fashion for many years.  The 1940's saw Hollywood movie stars introducing this look and the term 'Sweater Girl' first came about, replacing the term 'Pin up girl'. Fast forward 70 years and this style is still popular. The jumper dress is the go-to look this season if  you want to look hot in the cold weather. I have chosen this gorgeous burnt orange woollen dress and matched with black leggings and a simple pair of black ankle boots. You can update your wardrobe this autumn with this jumper dress from Peacocks for only £18.00.

My third choice was from Peacocks' 'Winters Light' collection. I have teamed up this beautiful cold shoulder chiffon blouse with a pair of floral cigarette trousers. Floral is a pattern which tends to be associated with spring and summer, well not any more. This season is changing our way of thinking, and you will find a lot of heavily floral printed garments mixed in with dark autumnal colours. The chiffon blouse is such a versatile garment. Whether you are heading to the office or for a night out on the town, this blouse can be worn for many different occasions. The blouse hangs beautifully over the figure and is incredibly flattering. It covers the hips and bottom allowing you to confidently wear trousers as brightly coloured or as skintight as you like, especially for those who would usually shy away from these bolder styles. I have paired with a leather look choker and black loafers for a casual look.

Layering your look does not mean covering up your outfit. 2016 is the year of the cover-up and Peacocks have a massive range of cardigans, gilets, coats and wrap-arounds that will completely change the look of your outfit. I've picked this stunning fisherman's rib knit cardigan with a fur collar trim, which adds a touch of glamour to this casual floral swing dress. I have paired these with chunky heeled ankle boots and a leather-look shoulder bag with tassels, which comes in a steal at only £12.00.

September Weekend Style

For the first time since I was in high school, (which was a while ago now...), I have the September Weekend off!!! - break open the champagne!

So, I had a couple of events this weekend so thought a little 'what I wore' blog update was in order.

Blog 1 - Saturday

To kick the weekend off I attended my cousin and his gorgeous fiancé's engagement party, and what a party it was. Fantastic music and brilliant company, we literally danced the night away.

Me and my stunning sister, Jules.

I love these Bardot style tops at the moment, they are incredibly flattering showing off your shoulders and collar bones. This particular top from New Look drapes over the body which was very comfortable as I have been troubled with bad bloating recently - so it helped me feel a lot more confident in my outfit. The very 90's shimmer material is all over the high street at the moment and it is absolutely gorgeous!

I paired this top with  plain black 'disco pants' also from New Look. These are a great alternative to leggings, they are much thicker than leggings - which helps the old VPL situation - and they are also very comfortable and easy to move around in... fab for the dance floor.

My heels, pale pink, chunky strappy sandals - I fell in love with them the minute I tried them on. Now don't get me wring they are HIGH heels,  but the platform on them makes them surprisingly easy to walk around in! This pair of heels were from I Love Shoes, Rutherglen exchange shopping centre for only £24.99.

The Rutherglen A/W Fashion Show 2016

Last weekend I had the privilege of hosting the Rutherglen Exchange shopping centre's 2016 Autumn/Winter fashion show.

With shops such as Peacocks, Kids Talk, I Love Fashion and Allan M Todd Opticians getting involved and raising some money for Breast Cancer Care it was sure to be an exciting fashion filled day.

The cat walk was set up in the shopping centre, in front of Home Bargains, right in the centre of all the busy shoppers. With the music starting we were good to go, with out first show at 12:30. We were able to fit three fabulous shows into Saturday afternoon.

Team photo - myself and the stunning models

Our stunning models Stephanie (Miss Scotland Finalist), Andre, Chloe, Caitlin, Layla and Callum had three outfits for the day which were provided by some of our favourite local stores, to promote their new Autumn/Winter ranges.

When waiting on models there if only one thing to do, take a selfie!
Check out all those gorgeous clothes

This season we are seeing a lot of suede and fringes coming in to the stores, these fabrics and styles have stuck with us this entire year, so don't be too quick to get rid of any of these from your wardrobe just yet. The thing I really love about suede is that it literally suits everybody, It also immediately adds some retro style and sophistication to any outfit.

There is a very 1970's feel from a lot of the styles in Peacocks new Winter range. We will be keeping warm in oversized coats this season, giving any outfit an effortlessly chic look, and strutting our stuff in wide leg trousers and heavy prints.

Now, one look we saw down the runway this year, which prompts the question that splits the nation is Double Denim... do we or don't we? With so many different options of jeans in the shops at the moment and endless choices of denim shirts, blouses and t-shirts to choose from, I say twice as much denim can we twice as good! We saw a large range of coloured jeans in the stores, match these with blue denim shirts for a perfect casual combo.

Wee selfie before show time with Stephanie (Miss Scotland Runner up 2016)

The ripped/relaxed looking jeans are taking centre stage this season, I Love Fashion have a great range to choose from, from embellished openings to simple tears, they will have you sorted for that perfect pair of denims. Now don't be fooled, torn jeans does not mean you can't dress them up. So, head in to I Love Fashion's sister store, I Love Shoes, and grab a pair of dazzling heels to turn your denims from cool/casual to dance floor/diva.

The style that really stole the show this year though was the preppy look which is the 'go to' look of this season. From cute collared necklines to checked shirts and fitted jeans we can all find a way to style this look to suit ourselves. You can see a lot of this style in the junior range in Peacocks and even Kids Talk for the little ones, so no matter what your age this season you will be able to look bang on trend!

We accessorised our outfits this year using glasses supplied from Allan M Todd Opticians. Glasses are becoming more and more popular as a fashion accessory with many celebs captured wearing bigger and bolder frames each day, we all now want a pair! Allan M Todd has been taking over by new management recently and modernising a lot of their stock, so if you've never popped in before, now is your chance.

Loved my outfit on the day, supplied by the fabulous I Love Fashion.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Fashion Show on Saturday we all hope you had just as much fun as we did.

#GirlBoss

Been looking for a little motivation and inspiration? Look no further, Sophia Amoruso has got you covered!

girl-boss
#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso is hands down one of the best books I have ever read.
If you want a little bit of inspiration but from someone with a little edge then I would recommend that you go, right now, off your sofa and buy this book!
So, to give you a little insight, Sophia Amoruso is the founder and CEO of clothing company Nasty Gal, which is an online retailer for alternative clothing... I know what your thinking, rich kid gets lucky?
Well I can happily say, you are wrong my friend.
This book is about a normal kid, just like me and you, who literally went from rags to riches and created her own little Ebay store wonderland which turned into a worldwide selling company and a known brand.
Sophia started her adventure on Ebay selling vintage clothing to girls, picking up styles she liked from thrift shops (or charity shops/second hand stores if your Scottish like me) her idea was so popular it rocketed out of this world, giving Sophia opportunities far from what she could ever imagine.
"Dream Big, Start Small"
#GIRLBOSS is an exciting read, its inspirational, its got humour, and it gives you some fantastic life advice.
Sophia Amoruso has helped me understand importance in everyday things in life such as saving money, writing job applications and presenting myself, but she never lets you forget to always chase your dreams.
"Treat your mind like your money, don't waste it"
Every girl should read #GIRLBOSS and learn to portray her inner Girl Boss, from sitting in the office to partying with your friends to becoming the CEO of company, this book will give you the confidence boost you need to really, truly believe in yourself.
5+StarsA definite 5 stars from this girl!
